Layag Islas the Day after Easter

As if reborn after episodes of delay, the first architectural fabric panel of Layag Islas is installed the day after Easter. An abstract composition of triangular sail-like transluscent architectural fabric panels shall carry on its inner side, images of Philipnine Festivals and Cultural Events from all the nation's regions which may be viewed up close via ramps on a continuous loop within the competition winning design by a very young Tanayan Architect and his Tanayan Principal Architect Team of Ildefonsians. Quitely the structure is emerging as a realization of a Filipino vision. An Easter tribute to the Filipino Spirit.

Ed Custodio on Easter Sunday

Ed Custodio, an Ildefonsian from Tanay is the town's Master Musician. Last Good Friday and in previous ones, he has led the singing of Stabat Mater together with an musical ensemble and Parish Singers. He is training young interested Tanayans to learn his musical craft following his well known passion for music. All Tanayans are so proud of his musical achievements.

Tanayan Gentleman TQ tips his hat at 104 !

As a child I remembered him as the smiling friend of my Lolo Simeon, always impeccably dressed in white barong buttoned to the neck with a snappy stride as he walked home from his many journeys in such a "cool" manner that has kept him fit and slim to the age of one hundred and four, twice the lifetime of many, thrice the life of our Lord on earth. He was an excellent public relations man, friend to most people at home and known by so many from other towns in Rizal. Anecdotes from one of his comtemporaries from Morong, now residing in Pasig recalled that Ka TQ was with them in hunting trips all over the mountain ranges of Tanay which he expertly knew and remembered him well for his comaraderie and lasting friendships. A few years back , I believe when he turned one hundred, he was the guest speaker at the Anniversary of Adoracion Norturna Filipina of which he was one of the founding members together with Lolo Simeon, on the initiative of Father Arthur Price. At one hundred he was eloquent and could recall the beginnings of the prayer group and was not wanting on humorous punchlines of their experiences. I have been compiling copies of old photographs, clippings and douwnloaded images, and I was confident there should be one of Ka TQ that I should find before I post as little tribute to the man.

From very old files I found clippings of the photoengraving sample prints that I saved from being disposed a long time ago of drafts of the Tanay Tercentenary. My problem was that there were no annotations so I had to look for any image of Ka TQ photo by photo. Believe it or not I have given up until the last piece which I thought is Ka TQ. The first person in the front row below. The photo is estimated to have been taken in the 1940s making him about 37 years old then. I feel this is his photo. As it makes me recall the Tanayan Gentleman TQ that I knew.

p.s. Shall we collectively try to identify the other Tanayans in the photo?
